This was the first time I picked up my camera and explored the local neighbourhood in what felt like a lifetime. Mid-afternoon came around and I caught glimpses of the sun glowing across the rooftops - when these wintery golden hours come along, you have to get them before they're gone!
As it's been a grey, dreary, and uncomfortably mild December, I felt relieved to have the chill of a crisp, bright January afternoon. Like many, I'm glad to see the back of 2021, but there have certainly been positives to take forward into the new year. Without wanting to sound too mystical, the new light felt coincided well with the turning of the year.
I may have walked around this corner of North-East London a thousand and one times, but with the right conditions there's always an opportunity to see compositions that may not have been apparent before. This was a helpful reminder to get back to basics and practice the fundamentals, and with a little more focus of the eye I could see glimpses of why I wanted to pick up a camera in the first place.
